Destroyed company Megavideo/Megauploads founded by German born Kim Dotcom (Kim Schmitz) has been given a new lease of life this week after it was announced that Kim Dotcom and investors have launched a new company offering file sharing.

Primarily based in New Zealand, the website will be protected to some degree from the likes of the US Govt. that was highly criticized for its military style of attacking and shutting down the original company. Plus it will stop a repeat of the US Govt. invasion of the Dotcom family’s residence in New Zealand, driven by Hollywood’s piracy claims.

In a more recent string of cyber pranks, a hacker(s) under the pseudonym “Pyknic” targeted several sites, most notably, the media giant nbc.com. It was assumed by many that this was in connection to the hackivist collective “anonymous”, since the hacks took place on November 4^th of this year, just before Guy Fawkes Day. However, various anon sources disregard any association with Pyknic’s hacks.

The NBC site was defaced with a static message from the hacker(s) stating the following:

Microsoft’s bizarre treatment of Wontek over the last few months has been disappointing to say the least. Microsoft stopped our advertising on Bing driving traffic to our reviews and news. We are told we have a high density of ads above the fold of the site, that being (1) advert to be exact.

To boot we get phone calls from Bing’s call center every day asking if we have removed advertising from our site. A supervisor named David told us that we should make two sites! That being 1 site for Google and 1 site for Bing, which is a totally absurd notion.

A mystery band hacked Aerosmith's website, and posted their manifesto. I honestly kinda feel band for the guys for them to resort to that, because it is pretty hard this day and age, and if anything I think it just may give other younger bands ideas...in the words of Steven Tyler, all I have to say is... "'Dream On', dudes".

During the last month, Tracfone’s Net10 brand has been disappearing from many Walmart stores around the country, one can only guess that this is to put more emphasis on Straight Talk and Tracfone brands. Or they could even be testing some geo marketing.

We always hear about the importance of privacy online, and protecting oneself from things like identity theft. That’s all good and well, but what if I told you that there was an inevitable breeding ground for a wide range of criminal activity, including (but not limited to) hackers, human traffickers, drug deals, weapons sales, underground fights, assassins for hire, and disturbingly enough, child pornography. What if I told you all of these transactions took place using a digital decentralized currency known as bit coin? Sounds like some sort of dystopian sci fi novel eh?
