Is Comptia A+ worth it?

Submitted by Dave Won. on

From time to time friends and fellow techs have asked me “is Comptia A+ worth it?”, and being honest as always, I have to say this certification is a complete waste of time and money. Employers don’t really care if you passed this Mickey Mouse exam. The study or preparation for this exam can be done literally in a day, so that gives you some idea of what you’re going to be dealing with..

iPhone 4 Coming to Straight Talk's Phone Lineup

Submitted by Dave Won. on

The iPhone 4 has appeared on Straight Talk’s support pages. So what does this mean… well an iPhone 4 on Straight Talk would be the final frontier for Straight Talk, to bring apple users over with a cheaper iPhone 4 outright purchase? Time will tell. I personally am going to guess that the phone will be sold at a decent discount but will be locked down somewhat so people don’t just buy them to resell unlocked.

Blockbuster Enters Cellular Market

So you’re on your way to pick up some pizza and stock up on rental flicks for the weekend. You go to pick up your four extra large cheeses, suddenly your phone’s going off, and you immediately identify the ring tone. It’s your grandma! You can’t imagine not answering it, because I mean, it’s your grandma for crying out loud. So you go to answer it, while you’re juggling your pizzas, and suddenly you drop your phone in a puddle of water. Then some jackass runs over it in the parking lot. Your warranty has expired. Oh no!

Are We Becoming Zombies?

Submitted by Dave Won. on

I know I’m not the only person that is extremely concerned about the state of the human race and how we are interacting with people using technology. We know we are becoming increasingly dependent on electronics of the everyday tasks like talking to people, ordering food, shopping and even job interviews! But where does it stop?

Sony RX-100 Review

Submitted by Andrew K. on

If you are looking for a small compact point and shoot the Sony RX-100 makes a great choice.

Photos

Quality is as you would expect from a 1 inch sensor compact camera, with clear images even when viewing the 20 megapixel images at 100%. The lens is a fast Carl Zeiss with a 1.8 aperture at the wide end, this means that it works great for indoor shots. The lens has a zoom level of 3.6x and this is over a 35mm equivalent of 29 – 105 mm when shooting in 16:9.

Windows 8 Epic Fail

Submitted by Eric Smith on

I wrote this a response to Why Windows 8 is a whte whale, and I was going to write an article that was the defending Windows 8, but now after using Windows 8 for 4 weeks I have come to the conclusion that this could in fact it’s the worst Windows since Windows Vista. From my recollection I don’t think I have despised an Operating System this much.
