AT&T has announced that it has struck a deal to purchase T-Mobile USA, this will make AT&T the largest cell mobile phone provider in the United states. The deal came at a cool cost of $39 Billion and the take over is expected to take around 12 Months to complete once US regulators have approved the deal.
This merger or take over is also going mean there will be less competition in the wireless phone market. How this is going to effect companies like Tracfone, Net10 and Straight Talk that use the AT&T & T-Mobile networks for their GSM phone models is unknown. One would guess that it is going to be either a huge increase in costs, dues to the fact that it only leaves Cricket, Virgin & Verizon as the major prepaid provider that will be competing against the merger.
