Fixed: What is RuntimeBroker.exe in Windows 10?

Submitted by admin on

So you’re probably wondering what this file called RuntimeBroker.exe that appears in the task manager right? Well I was concerned myself thinking it was some sort of Virus or Malware. Turns out this is a normal process that is part of Windows 10 in relation to the Metro tiles on the start menu! You know those crazy big tiles that were also in Windows 8. So before you freak out here is a few screen shots below of my Windows 10 to show you that it is completely normal. You can even end the process and click on the Start menu and it will load up again. So don’t delete it!

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsRuntime
  • C:\Windows\System32\RuntimeBroker.exe
  • Should use around 3 – 4 MB of Ram.
