Samsung Galaxy Precedent Review

This is a nice phone, but it appears people’s thoughts about the Sprint network (this is the network that Straight Talk uses on this phone) is exactly what was feared. We got no coverage in Phoenix and we are not the only ones. Please let us know if you have had success where you live!

The phone is like any Android it is easy to use and the touch screen is good, battery life is fantastic, and you have access to the awesome apps on the Android Market place. The WiFi works well. There doesn’t appear to be any lock downs for any functions. Great phone 8/10! Coverage 0/10

Straight Talk has announced that the Samsung Galaxy Precedent will before September 2011 hit the shelves. This news will come as a shock to many, but there is no doubt this will sell like a California wild fire. One thing this is going to also do is stick it to the phone dealers with their nasty plans. So an everyday Joe like you and me can now have an Android, and unlimited Internet, calls and text. This phone is said to be on the Sprint Network. link: Sprint coverage map

I went ahead and got this phone as my Husbands phone that is provided for him through work is Sprint... He has ok service, but if the wind blows watch out... I took the chance and am sorry to say it was a bad one :( If I am at work it is ok, home I have zero service. My husband that is sitting next to me with a Sprint Nextel phone has 3 bars, I have no service/signal. I can try to sign into my gmail, but that is not going to happen as I have no signal. I cannot get calls cannot send text NOTHING!!! This is not my only grip with ST... When my husband placed the order he never got a confirmation to come through from the ST sight. He checked his email an hour later to see if ST had sent a confirmation to see if it had actually went through. It did not so he thought he was safe to try to order again. He did not get a confirmation from the ST site or to his email so assumed it did not go through... He went through the process again and promptly got a confirmation. Tuesday came and two phones came, checked the bank account yes we were charged for two. The nasty part is that we only got one confirmation email from ST via their website and by email. Nothing ever showed up through the website or by email that two phone would be coming. It is really nice to know that nearly $500 bucks came out of our bank account!! The crap just keeps adding up here as it will take 30 days for it to be credited back to us. That is such BS. Now I am stuck with being out $$$, have to return 2 phones and be without my only source of a phone... Now after all of that i have a nasty taste in my mouth and cannot decide if I need to scratch this whole ST crap and go with Net 10 or something else. Does the Nokia 6790 work on At &T or Verizon? Both have great coverage in my area. Maybe I will go with the E71 if I decide to go this direction. So will I have to wait 30 days to get my new phone? I transfered my At&t # to this ST phone already... Am I at risk of losing my # now as well?? That would be the straw that breaks the camels back if I lose my #!!!

I decided, since my Droid goes dead every three hours searching for signal, it was time to go *back* to my original samsung (verizon cdma) phone. Straight talk, took my information, and switched my phone back. Amazingly, a few hours later, they shut *off* my old phone for no reason. Fast forward three days later, of being promised it will be *fixed* in the next 24 hours, they turned my driod on.... With the lack of communication skills, and bad cell service, they lost my old cell number, a ten year old cell number my clients have. I now have a out of town area code, not a fan of two area codes for business, and cell, for clients. My old number was used for commercials, and printed on brochures, and business cards, along with business landline number. I was on the phone today from 8 am, till almost 9 pm, trying to get them to get it back. They told me number expired. I finally got a hold of a supervisor. He's looking into, and will try to see what he can do. BUT, I have to wait another 24 hours, and had no service for almost a week. Supervisor I spoke with really, did get all information, and seems to me he's really trying. I really hope the number isn't expired. A headache past few days...

So, I bought this phone and started the activation around 11:27pm but I transferred my old straight talk phone number to this new phone. The lady with straight talk told me it would take 2 hours to 2 business days for the phone to activate and it couldn't activate up until the other phone quit working. :( So i've been waiting almost 2 hours and still can't use my new phone. does anyone know how long it's going to take.

My new phone was up and running about 20 minutes after I called ST to get my new phone activated and my number transferred over (I was already using ST). After your old phone stops working to make calls, turn off your new phone, and turn it back on. Then go into the settings and tell it to update the system/profile/etc (I think there were 4 different options of things to update).

I messaged Straighttalk, and the only exclusion from their AT&T and Verizon services is this phone. Because it is an Android phone, the only company authorized to power the phones are Sprint. So, now I'll prolly get the Nokia smartphone, even though I wanted this one DX

I have it so far works fine in KCMO area Only REAL problem is when I go to make a call I have to unlock phone every time -----very irritating. Also the phone sliders are Stupid no single key to end a call
