Torrent Copyright Lawyers Caught in Their Own Trap

Submitted by Eric Smith on

This is old news that copyright lawyers have been uploading and sharing copyrighted material to try to capture peoples IP addresses, we have all known this for some time. However there has always been a lacking of evidence in writing.  Finally one of these leaches Prenda Law has been caught.

According to Torrent Freak they have finally been busted at their own game after a court order was given to Comcast to reveal the identification of the user Sharkmp4 (a user that is constantly used in court to show connections to downloaded content and users) well the owner is of the IP is the actual company that is trying to sue people, plus this user is known to put illegal material onto the web.

When these companies put data in a torrent for the purpose of capturing the users IP address it is called a Honey Pot, well it has back fired… and now they have to answer to piracy claims themselves.

If you are a user of thepiratebay.org or other torrent sites, it is always recommended that you use software like Peerblock to protect yourself from Honey Pots.
