AVG Anti-virus still strong for well over a decade

I have been an avid user of AVG’s range of anti-virus products for a long time and I have got to say from a personal computer and now mobile computing point of view I have been very impressed with how my devices have been protected for a decade and counting.
I remember back in the early days AVG was simply called Free Anti-virus by AVG may be around 1999… and since those days the software has matured into an amazing commercial product that I have been recommended to all my friends and the pro version to companies I have worked with.

AVG actually has roots back to 1992, so it has seen a few changes over the years. Now review of AVG over the last decade of trust that it has earned with me is going to sound like a paid promotion, but it simply isn’t… I just want spread the word about what is in my opinion the best Anti-virus, and they deserve a promo.

There was a time when getting a virus on your computer was almost a certainty and there were a few commercial products out there that did an OK job of removing viruses,  however also had a huge price tag that the average person couldn’t afford to buy, and they wanted crazy yearly renewal fees to boot.

In particular Norton Anti-Virus was one of these companies that were a just complete rip-off, and to add to this they were working with the FBI in the late 90’ and early 2000’s to allow  a Trojan virus made by the FBI though its protection (1). Norton and MacAfee had bulky interfaces and slowed the computer down heaps because of the sheer size of the software in the resident memory.

So because of the fact that AVG is fast, well written and haven’t sold out to the likes of US Government it gets my vote as the number #1 anti-virus software. I used the free version of the software for years while I was poor, I now enjoy the pro version and all the extras that are chucked in. So thank you AVG.
