Straight Talk drops Verizon for AT&T

It has become apparent that Straight Talk has moved over all its phone models to the GSM network which is AT&T. The change has been very slow but you will be struggling to find any CDMA models in Walmart now. There are still a few CDMA models on Straight Talks website but it is clear they have been phased out. Suspicion arose when the Samsung R810C Finesse was dropped. There hasn't been any new CDMA models in over a year. So when we talk about Straight Talk's coverage now it is a totally different ball game. As the transition to the GSM takes place, as phones die and get replaced etc. We can no longer say that Straight Talk is on the best network in the country. As there is no stats public on how many customers are using GSM/CDMA phones we can only guess at this stage that it must be around 50/50.

I have T-mobile monthly 4G, a verizon flip unlimited and a cdma tracefone. Just left verizon because $89 per phone monthly just ain't worth it. We all are taking a loss folks. T-mobiles service is worse now than before. My mother has heart problems and I'm the caregiver or I wouldn't even worry about a phone except for talking. If everyone complaints to the fcc,BBB,FTC this crap will stop! Alltel is near but won't let us come back.

I cannot stand that Straighttalk has gone to Sprint even more than AT&T. I have been looking at Straighttalk Smart Phones and they all seem to run on Sprint which sucks even more than AT&T. Just read an article the other day(Jan. 2012) and saw that AT&T was voted worst provider again for like 3 years in a row. Sprint sucks as they have no coverage but in large cities. My Straighttalk phone I have had for nearly 2 years now runs on Verizon's network and I have never had a dropped call and coverage as been outstanding. I am upset, disappointed to find this out now about Straightalk going to AT&T but as I said I have only been able to find their smart phones with touch screen that has Sprint as the provider and I am extremely upset over this. Give us Verizon back as if they do I will continue to get friends to switch to Straightalk if they will also get some touchscreen smart phones also. I had gotten over a dozen people to switch to Straightalk for just phone and now like me they are wanting Smart phones but now with Sprint. You cannot beat Straightalk prices,$30 for a 1000 minutes, texts, and $45 for unlimited phone and data. They can dominate the market if they will get some good smart phones and Verizon as the carrier. It is a shame they are not at present and have bad leadership running the company to let this opportunity slip by that exists now.

I have been with Straight Talk several years and have experienced zero problems. However, I am looking to upgrade my phone and am now running into SEVERAL problems. I cannot get Sprint or AT&T in my location, therefore forcing me to not be able to upgrade my phone at this time. If Straight Talk wants to keep my business they need to come up with an Android that will run off of the Verizon Network! If they don't they will lose my business, as well as several others who live in my area.

I've been with ST for awhile. Long enough to have already switched phones a couple years ago without a problem. Recently I wanted to upgrade and bought a Nokia E71 recon from ST's online store . I then ported my old number and can call out & receive calls but can only send text messages. I cannot receive text messages to the E71, they go to my old phone. I can also still call from the old phone but only receive calls to the new phone. After finding out about all this switching and spending hours at the Walmart wireless center on the phone with aliens, I'm gonna be sending the E71 back and discontinue ST. You lost me ST. Your fault!!!

As an unfortunate former Alltel customer forced switched to Verizon (by merger) now locked into a plan I can't get out of I was going to go Striaghttalk, now I can't. Most of the places we use our phones are out of ATT's coverage area. In order for me to upgrade my phone and keep the same features with my current plan, I have to enter an new contract, for my old Alltel plan doesn't exist with Verizon, and pay $150 a month + fees, and increase of $65-70 from where I am now. Thank you Verizon/Straighttalk, whomever of you is responsible.

We had an issue with them and had the same problems with c/s. They read from instructions on...who knows where... and that would not help. Long story short we emailed S/T and we received and quick responce and a satisfied salution. Maybe this will help in the future or now.
