Apple IPad 32GB Review

Ipad 32GB

The new Apple iPad is an interesting device. It's basically a huge iPhone/iPod. Initially after unboxing the device, I was surprised to feel that it was heavier than I thought it would be due to it's alumminum backing and I'm guessing battery weight. (The battery could take several hours to charge, by the way)The thing is, it's not heavy. It just looks lighter than what it is. Applications I've tested on there were the facebook, twitter, and ABC television channel. They all work well and look great on the screen. The screen is very clear, although some people have complained that in bright sunlight it does become completely opaque. This may be good or bad. For those of you looking for a free 'mirror ap', just take your iPad outside. Apple engineers, in their infinite wisdom, decided to put the wifi antenna under the logo. This has some people complaining that their wifi signal is too weak. Some people have complained that it's too hard to type. No problem. Just get the bluetook keyboard for $69. Of course bigger machines means bigger pricetags on apps. The same games on this baby could cost you more than 400% compared to your tiny iPod. Before the device may be used, like an iPod, the device must be hooked up to iTunes to be activated. So don't expect to use it straight out of the box. Some people have had to wait up to four hours to sync their iPad to their Mac. The device cannot multitask, so you are limited to running one application at a time. Lst but not least, don't sneeze on your iPad or even look at it the wrong way. They are very sensitive! If you've ever dropped your phone and simply put it back together to'fix it', don't expect to do the same with your iPad. You might want to get a titanium carrying case. At least get all the insurance you can on this thing. Chances are you will need it. Of course, people still love it. So if you are still curious, go ahead and check it out.  A work college got the new 32MB Ipad. He loves the thing. He tells me that he took the thing to bed to watch television cuddling his iPad that night instead of his wife.

Score: 6/10

All applications either pay for apps or free apps HAVE to be downloaded through the itunes apps store. You cannot watch youtube or hulu etc through the web browser as it doesn't support flash. How ever there is a youtube app that lets you watch youtube, this is pre-installed. No flash support is a major problem. It's beleived that if a HTML5 web browser comes out on the iPad then video will be playable through it. (that is once youtube etc. are converted to the format that become standard.
