Introduction
The Straight Talk brand was founded in July 2009 by the TracFone company and Walmart as a co-op venture to provide a reliable service at a great price. The phone carrier is Verizon which has the widest coverage in the United States. The Coverage does not include international calls or text messages.

The two main pre-paid plans that are available are the:
All you need plan:
$30 for 30 days service plan which includes
1000 minutes of talk time
1000 Text messages (sms)
30 Mb of Data (Internet)
Unlimited Plan:
$45 for 30 days service plan which includes
Unlimited Talk (Minutes)
Unlimited Text messages (sms)
Unlimited Data (Internet)
The $30 All you need plan is great and pretty much as the name says “all you need” if your a person who goes under the less than 1000 minutes or 1000 texts the services.
The $45 is unlimited... no catches.
(also available online are ($135 - 3 months access / $270 – 6 months / $540 – 12 months)
The service:
The service is on the Verizon network, so the coverage is as good as it gets. The phone handsets seem to be the only thing that people have issues with, they are limited in the fact they have little features, they are locked down so you can't install apps etc. The main reason the phones are locked do it to ensure that the Unlimited data can not be taken advantage of in the sense of video & audio, otherwise this would be the most popular cell provider in the country, and they can't do that.. I'm guessing that's how Walmart came to a deal with Verizon.
UPDATE: Straight Talk now has announced that it will be using the AT&T Network aswell, so the phone will have AT&T and Verizon... meaning this phone service will have the best coverage out of all the phone companies.. it's kind of a Hybrib in a way...

Picture messages: cost no extra to send only the amount of data (the size of the picture) if your unlimited it's completely covered.
Recieve calls: you can recieve calls from all other phone providers including interneation and Skype & other VoIP services & devices.

My straight talk phone has the same coverage as my old Verizon Blackberry Storm II. I am most definitely shocked about all the claims came through. Activation was done by a Walmart associate. In addition, the free 411 is provided by 1-800-FREE411. I tried it all out. The wireless web is decent, but not outstanding. I bought the Blackberry-like Samsung phone. I wish they had the Samsung finesse (I would definitely bought that one in a heart beat!). YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! )

I signed on with straighttalk in April buying a phone,,,, since then have been hung up on ,,,, ignored,,,, asked unreasonable demands!!!!! I am disabled,,,, on a fixed income,,, am suppose to have two phones with me at all times according to straighttalk. Being disabled,,, signing on with straighttalk,,, went 10 days without a phone fell three times and had no way of calling for help!!!! Now am suppose to send in thier disabled phone to be without service again for up to ten days ,,,, endangering my life!!!!! I have not and am certain that I will not be compensated for being without a phone by them. They stress that thier policies are more important than the customer. BBB and Attorney General and Congress will not have a nice attitude towards straighttalk when They are shown these policies... A disabled person is of no consequence or matters,,,, thier policies and people are most important to thier company. This will be dealt with.. And am certain no one wants to deal with these...

Annie I am sorry for you being disabled, but a disabled person should not just rely on a cell phone for emergency services just for the reasons you described.
If you can afford the Straight Talk service you can afford a land line under governmental help programs. I KNOW, I have been there. I had a land line for less than 40 dollars a month under the program.
Cell phones at times can be unreliable and if you are prone to falls you should have a land line. With a land line, carry a cordless phone with you to each room.

According,,,, to straighttalk,,, belittling people is thier policy of doing buiseness. Paying customers are of no importance. Policies and thier scripts are more important than paying customers. No matter what or how ,,,, they can endanger lives and belittle people to no end. No matter what. I was told only two or three days ,,,, went 11 days without a phone and no way of calling for help. Am I being compensated for being on the phone with them and doing without phone service?????? IS that important to them ????? They are being taken to the BBB and ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE and CONGRESS,,,, this is all fraudulent service.

i have a straight talk lg 220c pay as you go cell phone and i just wondering why is it that i can download screen savers to it but it won't usually let me download ringtones from the same place i get the screen savers from. it has let me download a few ringtones but not to many, why is that.

got this phone for the cheap internet usage and found out it WAS cheap!! should have stayed with Sprint and just paid more for it! Do not get this service unless all your wanting to do with your phone is call ppl and thats it!!

i was on my straight talk phone and all in a sudden it hung up on me and wont let me call out or text. i called the company and they said i had to call between 8 to 12 the next day and it was only 10 when their suppose to be open they close. so my phone still dont work. ive tried shutting it off and i tried calling that *22890 number and it wouldnt connect. i have it on auto refill and it took the money out and everything so it cant be that im out of time.

I just added a new service card for the month and the phone will not let me call out. I have only had the phone for 3 months. I can't get a hold of anyone to help me. Advice DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

Man yall either dumb or slow jus follow the directions and u good. and i got my number ported from my alltel phone. Once yall get yall stright talk workin yall gon think yall da shit cause there is no other company that has a better offer free everythang cuz lol. I highly suggest the touch screen order it from walmart.com cause they dont sell it in the store peace.

Straight talk should't be able to operate. You pay for the phone and card,but can't get it to operate. If you want to use your old number it takes seven days to get it started,if you do? Wal-mart should be ashamed to sell this product.

I have NEVER heard of ...... "it gonna take 24-48 hours for your phone to be activated"
that what I was told so I patiently waited- kept trying & still to this day Im waiting for my phone to be activated- AFTER I had to fax the proof of my phone.
Then when you pull up the www.straighttalk.com
NOTHING comes up-as if they NOW have NO website.
Oh if I were a cut off a ear-Peter now, but Im not.
So I would not -will not recommend, refer,
or speak of Straighttalk to often to anyone that needs a phone for emergency purposes.

i live in Montana and have had the straight talk LG100C since Christmas. It worked okay for about 3 months and then it just stopped ringing. I would have voicemails and missed calls from a buttload of people thinking that I was ignoring them when in all actuallity my phone was ringing. I finally got that problem resolved, and now I'm trying to buy a different ringtone for the stupid thing, and can NOT find a website that will let me do so. I have followed all the instructions in the guide, and I have gone to all the recommended web sites only to be told that there is an error and that that website no longer exists. Where in the hell can I go to buy a different ringtone? Damn this phone and this company are shit!!
